This month we will begin a feasibility design for the renovation of a grand early 19th century listed building in Edinburgh’s New Town for Deaf Action, the oldest deaf society in the world.

The buildings comprised of 49-51 Albany Street were originally a church and an adjacent house, operating as a centre for the deaf community since 1890. The project will cover its extensive refurbishment, celebrating its cultural and historical significance whilst providing new learning spaces, museum, library, classrooms and events spaces.

The Practice is thrilled to have met Deaf Action through our Commission Programme and are looking forward to the next steps in its design and realisation.
