Mikael Blomfelt records the Wachthuus restaurant and bar as an intimate and contemplative space, reflecting upon its position within its alpine setting in the Swiss mountains of the St Gotthard Pass and capturing the sobered interior spaces within.

Having previously recorded the building as a welcoming restaurant and skiing lodge, the new setting reveals another dimensionality to the building; one which focuses on its craftsmanship and qualities of material, the tendencies of light, and hints at connected spaces captured through apertures from one room to the next. The photographs hint at a suggested inhabitation that leaves the viewer to contemplate the building’s function and place.
