Submariner’s House

EXISTING Submariners House

The transformation of a 19th century mews house in West London into a series of light-filled spaces, connect by a new coloured concrete staircase.

Our client, a former submariner, inspired us to think about how we could maximize the limited space within this small mews house to create a tranquil, light filled interior.

On each floor a precise series of timber components accommodates furniture and storage. Sliding past these elements a new staircase, made form red pigmented concrete and veiled in a delicate screen of whitened timber slats, acts as both balustrade and room divider, tying the house tighter.
